9/10 of us walk for more than 10-minutes a day... but only half of us walk briskly. Brisk walking will get your heart pumping, improve your mood and lower the risk of serious health issues.

A brisk 10-minute walk every day can make a difference to your health. Active 10 takes away the guesswork when it comes to exercise, it shows you exactly how much brisk walking you’re doing and how you can do more. It’s easy to use and helps you set your goals for the day. It's an easy way to improve your health and wellbeing; no gym, no memberships, just you and 10 minutes!


Every little counts

Did you know that walking briskly, even for 1 minute, counts as exercise? Taking a brisk 10-minute walk each day will get your heart pumping, improve your mood and lower the risk of serious health issues like type 2 diabetes, heart disease and some cancers.

Doing 10 minutes of brisk walking is a simple, achievable way to add more activity into your day. Start small and build up from there – you might be surprised how much you can do!

The app provides a plan for your walking goal. Set your target; to complete one, two or three 10-minute walks. Track your progress by day, week and month. See your achievements, earn trophies as you clock up your steps.

How does this work?

The tailored approach LiveWell Dorset uses to come up with solutions to the things that are stopping us achieving our goals, is based upon work done by University College London developing the COM-B model of behaviour change. In this model, all behaviour is influenced by understanding a person’s capability to change, their opportunity to change and their motivation to change. By understanding which of these is the biggest barrier to change, we can tailor support accordingly. This model of behaviour change is at the centre of the support we offer, online and in person.
