LiveWell Dorset is inviting the county to a twelve-week healthy lifestyle transformation. Leading Public Health Dorset’s Prevention at Scale programme; LiveWell Dorset helps you make lifestyle changes that keep you healthier for longer.
Take Twelve is a twelve-week program starting 1 March 2019 inviting residents to commit to a healthy living goal and conquer unhealthy habits. Goals could include reaching a target weight, quitting smoking, drinking less alcohol or completing a fitness challenge such as couch to 5k.
During the program, participants will receive support and advice from LiveWell Dorset. Coaches, personal trainers and nutritionists will share information to guide participants to live well. Online community and tools will encourage participants to take each next step to live well.
”Much of the ill health and unhappiness I see in general practice is related to, or made worse, by less healthy lifestyle choices.
If we all took up this challenge, the positive physical and mental health benefits for us as individuals and our communities could be transformative“.
Being physically active can lead to a happier healthier life for people of all ages. Losing just 5 per cent of body weight will result in huge health benefits such as lower risk of heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes. Becoming smoke-free is the single most important step smokers can take to enhance length and quality of life. Cutting back on alcohol reduces the risk of developing liver disease, high blood pressure, depression and cancer.
Join Dorset’s healthy living challenge.
