Two-thirds of us are trying to lose weight most of the time. Sound familiar? We know how hard it can be to shed those pounds. Daily, we support clients who want to reach and maintain their target weight. We’re here for you!

Mick had tried several diets with little success, which caused him to lose enthusiasm. “Your weight – let’s lose some,” said his GP. Mick took control of his eating and found peer support at his weight loss group.

Self-confessed ‘fussy eater’ Elaine usually opted for convenience meal deals and fast food. Determined to succeed, she received a kick start to a weight loss program and took up weekly swimming and walking.

What to cook?

Healthy recipes are on hand. Fitting in cooking fresh food after a busy day at work, before volunteering at Guides in the evening was a struggle. Elaine has transformed her diet with new recipes. Easy Meals is a great way to find, and cook healthy foods. Your motivation to change?

Focusing on your motivation to change will help you to change. Joining others on a journey to change will encourage you to keep on track. Sharing with others is an important part of your journey. Mick met and made new friends through his weight-loss group, friends who understood his journey and struggles.

Your weekly weigh-in?

Could you meet with a neighbour or family member to regularly track your weight? A lunchtime weigh-in with colleagues at work could be all you need to stay the course. Keep a food diary, share and compare notes with your group.

How does this work?

The tailored approach LiveWell Dorset uses to come up with solutions to the things that are stopping us achieving our goals, is based upon work done by University College London developing the COM-B model of behaviour change. In this model, all behaviour is influenced by understanding a person’s capability to change, their opportunity to change and their motivation to change. By understanding which of these is the biggest barrier to change, we can tailor support accordingly. This model of behaviour change is at the centre of the support we offer, online and in person.
