Stop smoking in 28 days

Join the nation’s largest mass quit attempt

WANT TO QUIT?

TRIED TO QUIT?

TOLD TO QUIT?

6 IN 10 SMOKERS READING THIS WANT TO QUIT.

You’ve likely heard you Doctor, partner, friends and even your cigarette package telling you to quit. When do you want to quit? The decision is yours - you can do it. And we can help.

You'll no doubt know the facts and stats about the harm smoking does to your health; it is the biggest cause of preventable deaths in England and it doubles your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. The cost of smoking has increased by nearly 100% over the past 10 years. The average smoker can save £1,800 a year by stopping smoking. A 20-a-day smoker can save up to £4,000 a year!

Quit for COVID

Quitting smoking is the best decision you can make right now. Smoking damages your lungs and lowers your immune system meaning it’s harder to fight off respiratory infections such as coronavirus. By giving up the cigarettes, you’re giving your lungs a chance to repair, increasing the likelihood of a quicker recovery. If smokers catch coronavirus, they may be more likely to experience a more severe infection compared to non-smokers.

Stoptober is an ideal time to quit as you'll join thousands of smokers, battling to break the chain together. It is the largest mass quit attempt in the country. Read on to learn four tips to quit smoking in 28 days:

How does this work?

The tailored approach LiveWell Dorset uses to come up with solutions to the things that are stopping us achieving our goals, is based upon work done by University College London developing the COM-B model of behaviour change. In this model, all behaviour is influenced by understanding a person’s capability to change, their opportunity to change and their motivation to change. By understanding which of these is the biggest barrier to change, we can tailor support accordingly. This model of behaviour change is at the centre of the support we offer, online and in person.
