    "Adventure Walk" Nordic Walking Fit is the culmination of many years of love and hard work on behalf of Lynne Martin, who aims to bring the positive physical and mental health benefits of Nordic Walking to as many people as she can. Now working in collaboration with various other health organisations – such as USANA – Nordic Walking Fit is becoming one of the lead proponents of the mass popularity of Nordic Walking in the South of the UK. The atmosphere is positive, welcoming and friendly.

    Walking group: Another monthly group that has been running for several years. In that time Jenny Halsall and her husband have organised nearly 100 walks. All the walks are tried and tested before the event. On some the participants enjoy a picnic on others they stop en route at a local pub or end at a café.

    Purbeck Nordic Walkers are a friendly group of local instructors who love to share their passion for Nordic Walking and helping people to achieve their goals. Nothing make us happier than to see someone learn about Nordic Walking, fall in love with it and then use it hit their personal weight loss or fitness goals. Purbeck Nordic Walkers provides walks and classes for everyone across the Isle of Purbeck.

    You don’t have to be a member and you will always be welcome. Nordic Walking is great fun and our instructors will not only ensure that you reach your health goals but that you have a great time doing it! You will learn all you need to know in a relaxed friendly atmosphere with the Learn To Nordic Walk course. Purbeck Nordic Walkers looks after its walkers, there will never be a shortage of interesting walks and people to meet!

    Wareham Walkers

    Wareham Walkers is a small, friendly, weekly walking group for mainly older people who appreciate the health advantages of walking regularly.

    We are based in Wareham, Dorset, UK, and welcome newcomers to join us for a walk and optional coffee afterwards in the convivial company of like-minded folk. Wareham Walkers is run by volunteers who arrange walks that are of medium pace and generally of one to two hours duration. If leaders are available, on occasions a slower, shorter, stroll will be organised additionally for less able walkers.

    Purbeck U3A Walking Group meets fortnightly throughout the year for circular walks starting from various locations in the Purbecks and lasting about two hours. The start points always have parking available and are never more than a short drive from one of the main towns. We encourage car sharing.
    In some cases the start and finish point will be where those so minded can stop to socialise over refreshments or lunch.
    Must be a member of the U3A before being able to take part in this group, and fee is a membership fee.

    Dance

    Dance Fit wants to put fun back into exercise whilst giving all ages and abilities the chance to participate. Participants should be prepared to sweat but feel energised and invigorated after the workout. Anyone who wants to be active and have fun, which is why our classes are FUN-ACTIVE. A participant can increase or decrease their workout rates through adapting techniques and shortening or lengthening the depth of their movements.

How does this work?

The tailored approach LiveWell Dorset uses to come up with solutions to the things that are stopping us achieving our goals, is based upon work done by University College London developing the COM-B model of behaviour change. In this model, all behaviour is influenced by understanding a person’s capability to change, their opportunity to change and their motivation to change. By understanding which of these is the biggest barrier to change, we can tailor support accordingly. This model of behaviour change is at the centre of the support we offer, online and in person.
