A little about this activity ...

Our friendly and welcoming health walk scheme. We have trained volunteer walk leaders who are ready and waiting to walk with you, and to make sure you have a great time. We walk to the pace of the people on the walk so it is very much a gentle walk. If you can only walk 100 metres then the route is designed for you to be able to stop and sit down until the group re- joins you. There will be a chance to stop at the end of the walk for a well deserved refreshments so remember to bring some loose change. We are happy to take walkers with Dementia but please make sure that they have a buddy/carer with them. Children are welcome on the walks also but under 18`s will need to be accompanied by an adult. We have various types of walks, from a gentle walk for around 15 minutes, a walk lasting about 30 minutes and a medium walk - lasting around 45 minutes. Locations: Beach Cafe, on the Promenade, DT4 7AN. Thursdays 10:30am. Swannary Car Park, DT4 7BG, Fridays 10:30am

How does this work?

The tailored approach LiveWell Dorset uses to come up with solutions to the things that are stopping us achieving our goals, is based upon work done by University College London developing the COM-B model of behaviour change. In this model, all behaviour is influenced by understanding a person’s capability to change, their opportunity to change and their motivation to change. By understanding which of these is the biggest barrier to change, we can tailor support accordingly. This model of behaviour change is at the centre of the support we offer, online and in person.
