In a nutshell

LiveWell Dorset supports people along their journey to a happier and healthier life with guidance on quitting smoking, losing weight, drinking less alcohol and moving more.

Funded by Public Health Dorset, the service is free at the point of the delivery for all adults living in Bournemouth, Poole and Dorset. Anyone can access the service through joining online or by calling us, or they can be referred by health professionals.

Brief advice and support - we help to connect you to local opportunities right for you

Wellness Coaches

We offer 1:1 support to create new healthy habits- across several 20 minute coaching sessions

Network & Relationships

We connect clients with more formal healthy lifestyle support such as local slimming groups, smoking cessation support or activity sessions

You can sign up or register with LiveWell Dorset over the phone or online. Registering by phone gives you brief advice and guidance directly from one of our Wellness Advisors, to provide support that is right for you. You will be signed up for Wellness Coaching and / or formal healthy lifestyle offers. If you register online, all our online tools, advice and information will be available to you, as well as being able to log call backs from Advisors and Coaches to access our range of healthy lifestyle offers in the community.

How does this work?

The tailored approach LiveWell Dorset uses to come up with solutions to the things that are stopping us achieving our goals, is based upon work done by University College London developing the COM-B model of behaviour change. In this model, all behaviour is influenced by understanding a person’s capability to change, their opportunity to change and their motivation to change. By understanding which of these is the biggest barrier to change, we can tailor support accordingly. This model of behaviour change is at the centre of the support we offer, online and in person.
