Who are your allies on your healthy living journey? Calling on a supportive friend, partner or relative can give a much-needed lift when things get tough. Even if all you need to do is rant, having a friendly face close by can help you to feel better about how things are going. You could also ask them to let you know when you’re doing well, to help you see that you’re progressing towards your goal.

See your friends as a valued source of practical as well as emotional support. Perhaps you could find someone to accompany you to an activity or group, lend you any items you might need to get started (recipe books, trainers, weighing scales, measuring cups?), or share ideas with. There’s no shame in asking for a favour, and you may be surprised how much people have to offer.
The people around you can also be a font of knowledge and experience. Make the most of that! Find someone who can teach you how to cook, share recipes or meal ideas with you, show you how to do exercises safely, or whatever else it is that you need some guidance on.
