The LiveWell Van

Bringing healthier living to you.

We know it’s not always easy to find time for your health. The LiveWell Van travels across Dorset to make it easier for everyone to look after their health and wellbeing. You’ll find us at workplaces, industrial estates, and community locations offering free support, practical advice and resources to help you live well.  

Our friendly teams can provide:

  • Free healthy living advice – covering weight management, physical activity, alcohol and stopping smoking. 

  • On-the-spot health checks – including blood pressure and NHS Health Checks 

  • Stop smoking support – including access to free Quit Kits  

  • Access to free coaching and support to help you make positive lifestyle changes 

 

Who we visit:

The LiveWell Van regularly visits: 

  • Industrial estates and local businesses 
  • Community centres and local events 
  • Public sector workplaces and charities

Would you like the van to visit your workplace, event or community group? Our experienced LiveWell team can provide a range of options to suit your needs: 

Option 1 - Pop-up Wellbeing Visit (2-3 hours)

  • A friendly wellbeing pop up - perfect for events, drop-ins and busy sites. Great for starting conversations, offering free advice, sharing resources, and building awareness. 

Option 2 - LiveWell Van with NHS Health Checks ages 40–74 (4-6 hours) 

  • Book the LiveWell Van to offer free NHS Health Checks for eligible adults aged 40–74 (minimum number for booking health checks is four). This is combined with wellbeing advice and support for all staff.

  • We’ll bring everything needed and can provide all forms in advance. 

Option 3 - LiveWell Van with Health MOTs (4-6 hours)

  • Quick, blood pressure and BMI checks and 1-to-1 conversations covering lifestyle habits and personalised wellbeing advice. Suitable for adults of any age. 

Option 4 - LiveWell Van Combination Visit (4-8 hours)

  • Not sure which option fits best? Large employer with a wide range of staff ages? Community outreach? Choose this if you’d like a mix of engagement, Blood pressure/health MOTS and even NHS Health Checks. We bring the van and an Engagement Coordinator; you shape the purpose of the day.  

Option 5 - Partner-Led LiveWell Van – Half or full day booking 

  • This option is for LiveWell Dorset partners and collaborators who wish to book the LiveWell Van and staff to engage your audience around health prevention and support your aims. Ideal for public health campaigns, targeted engagement, community outreach, or multi-agency events.

How does this work?

The tailored approach LiveWell Dorset uses to come up with solutions to the things that are stopping us achieving our goals, is based upon work done by University College London developing the COM-B model of behaviour change. In this model, all behaviour is influenced by understanding a person’s capability to change, their opportunity to change and their motivation to change. By understanding which of these is the biggest barrier to change, we can tailor support accordingly. This model of behaviour change is at the centre of the support we offer, online and in person.

When you register with LiveWell Dorset, we ask you some questions about you and your health (how much you smoke, how active you are, how much you drink and how much you weigh). We store that information and use it to shape our service offer to you – such as the advice we give or the extra services we connect you to. The only people who will see this information will be those involved in the delivery of the service and management of the data. If you would like to use extra services (such as slimming clubs and pharmacies) we have to share this information with them. For us to be able to put you in touch with these services, we must have your consent to share that information with the service (we’ll ask for that later, when if you sign up for extra services).

Before we can sign you up any further, we need to know:

  • You're happy for your personal information to be shared with LiveWell Dorset.
  • You understand what information may be shared and why, and that at times, our contact to you may be supported by technology partners, who have the same data protection standards and safeguards as we do
