Want to quit?

Tried to quit?

Told to quit?

6 in 10 smokers reading this want to quit.

It's likely that your Doctor, spouse, friends and even your cigarette package have told you to quit. When do you want to quit? The decision is yours - you can do it. And we can help you.

You'll no doubt know the facts and stats about the harm smoking does to your health; it is the biggest cause of preventable deaths in England and it doubles your risk of having a heart attack or stroke. The cost of smoking has increased by nearly 100% over the past 10 years. An 11-a-day smoker can save up to £1,700 a year by stopping smoking. A 20-a-day smoker can save up to £3,000 a year! … £30,000 in a decade!

Three tools to empower you to quit:

1. Join Our LiveWell:

It’s important to have a team of supporters around you to encourage you. They'll pick-you-up when the going gets tough and they'll celebrate with you when you reach your goals. “I quit in February, for myself, my family and my grandson” said one group member recently. Join Our LiveWell Facebook Group.

2. Sign up to coaching:

Our health coaches can talk you through your steps to success over a 12-month period. They'll help you to activate your stop smoke oomph. Register now.

3. Create your personal quit plan

Planning is an important part of quitting. Talk to us about creating your plan. This short quiz will get you started:

How does this work?

The tailored approach LiveWell Dorset uses to come up with solutions to the things that are stopping us achieving our goals, is based upon work done by University College London developing the COM-B model of behaviour change. In this model, all behaviour is influenced by understanding a person’s capability to change, their opportunity to change and their motivation to change. By understanding which of these is the biggest barrier to change, we can tailor support accordingly. This model of behaviour change is at the centre of the support we offer, online and in person.

When you register with LiveWell Dorset, we ask you some questions about you and your health (how much you smoke, how active you are, how much you drink and how much you weigh). We store that information and use it to shape our service offer to you – such as the advice we give or the extra services we connect you to.
