Engage with LiveWell

Our Engagement Team work with partners to empower adults in Dorset take their next step to LiveWell.

Every day is different for the Engagement Team, but the message is always the same: we're here for your health and wellbeing. From attending local community events to supporting our NHS partners, we're working to deliver health prevention at scale. LiveWell is a behaviour change service. When you start the conversation, we'll continue it in the long-term. Partnership and collaboration with Dorset's voluntary and public services is essential as we make a difference for our communities, together.

The way we treat our bodies today has a lasting impact on our future health. We can all take steps to improve our health and wellbeing. Making a change can be tough, but it is possible! Don't face the journey alone, we can help you take control of your health.

WE CAN:

  • Meet with you, your staff, and community to provide a service overview
  • Explain the ways you can refer and signpost people to LiveWell
  • Run pop-up information stands free of charge
  • Resource you with printed flyers, posters and other electronic materials
  • Provide feedback on the quantity and success of your referrals
  • Deliver training to support the health of your staff and those you work with

Meet the Training & Engagement Team

We're a team promoting our services and encouraging people to change to a healthier, happier life.

Addy Sheppard

Training and Engagement Officer

I like the fact that every day is different and I have the pleasure of working with a team who are dedicated to helping people live healthier lives.

Harry Arliss

Training and Engagement Coordinator

As an ex-serviceman, I am always keen to help others and work together to achieve a goal. I'm proud to work with such a motivated team dedicated to helping others. I live well by training towards a goal either in the gym or out running.

Lucy Sharpe

NHS Health Checks Programme coordinator

I am so very proud and count myself extremely lucky to be part of such an awesome team at LiveWell Dorset. Having worked for many years as a teacher in adult education and delivering motivational training, I have a huge passion for making a difference to people's lives and supporting behaviour change. Especially when connecting with those who wouldn’t usually access services. I feel very privileged to lead on the NHS Health Check Programme, as it allows me to work closely with a variety of people across Dorset, identifying early signs and lowering the risk of cardiovascular disease. What these people don’t know is the impact they have on me, it is so rewarding and I learn something new every day!
I LiveWell by exploring the outdoors. I am at my happiest when running or walking my dog by the sea.

Rosie Equi

Training and Engagement Coordinator

With a background in Social Care and Health Inequality Research, I am keen to help and support others to access equal healthcare and live healthy lifestyles. After recently graduating with a Master’s in Public Health, I am proud to be working with such a dedicated team and live well by going for long walks around Dorset exploring the countryside!

Nicola Whitehead

Training and Engagement Officer

I’m really proud to be a part of the team at LiveWell Dorset and love that my job enables me to help people in the community take steps towards living happy and healthy lives.

I am really passionate about living an active lifestyle, as this can really have a positive impact on our physical and mental health. Just getting out in the fresh air for a short walk can do wonders for our wellbeing and be a great way to boost our mood!

I LiveWell by getting outdoors as much as possible and actively exploring some of the wonderful places Dorset has to offer. My favourite ways to keep active are walking, cycling, HIIT training and going for a skate on my longboard.

Brittany Farmer

I am passionate about spending my time outdoors. I love nature and enjoy hiking, climbing, camping, cycling, and snorkeling. I have always sought out opportunities to ignite this passion in others and working for LiveWell Dorset allows me to do just that! My background is in nursing and I’m happy to be using my skillset to promote health and wellness awareness here in Dorset County.

Liam Jefferies

With a background in Sports coaching, performance, and development, I am passionate about being able to help individuals progress and succeed. I am excited to join an innovative team who like me have the aim to help everyone live a healthy and more active lifestyle!

I live well by ensuring I am active daily, whether this is a daily 5k walk or playing for the Weymouth Volleyball Club!

Bilal Gohar

It's an honour to be part of the LiveWell Dorset family. With a strong background in pharmacy and a master's degree in digital health, I bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise to improve patient well-being. What drives me most is the opportunity to make a positive impact in people's lives by providing empathetic care and personalized support. I believe in the power of human connection and understanding to foster lasting well-being. When I'm not working, you'll often find me on the squash court, swimming laps, or exploring the beauty of nature. Embracing an active lifestyle is not only a personal passion but also an important aspect of the holistic approach I advocate.

Sara Tattershall

It’s a pleasure to be working with such an aspiring team and to be able to use my experience and knowledge to support the people of Dorset. Got a question? Let's discuss how we can support you, your colleagues and the communities you serve.

How does this work?

The tailored approach LiveWell Dorset uses to come up with solutions to the things that are stopping us achieving our goals, is based upon work done by University College London developing the COM-B model of behaviour change. In this model, all behaviour is influenced by understanding a person’s capability to change, their opportunity to change and their motivation to change. By understanding which of these is the biggest barrier to change, we can tailor support accordingly. This model of behaviour change is at the centre of the support we offer, online and in person.
