How to lose weight fast naturally

Naturally losing weight is a healthy and safe method of weight loss. It generally involves making small tweaks to your diet, exercise routine and lifestyle, rather than wholesale ones. These small, more natural changes to your daily lifestyle are believed to be one of the best methods of losing weight, as smaller changes to your exercise routines, diet and more are changes that you are far more likely to stick to.

With that in mind, in the following blog article we have compiled eight small-scale, natural and easily-achieved changes you can add to your routine that will help you to lose weight faster.

Eat Whole Foods

One great change you can make to your diet is to try and base your diet around whole, single-ingredient foods, as well as limiting the number of processed foods you eat. By making this change, you remove loads of added sugar and fat from your diet (from the processed foods), while providing your body with more essential nutrients. Most whole foods are also naturally very filling, which can help you to control your portion sizes and appetite more easily.

Add Protein to your Diet

When it comes to losing weight, protein is one of the best tools you have at your disposal. Since your body burns lots of calories even digesting and metabolising the protein that you eat, a high protein diet can actually boost your metabolism by up to 100 calories a day. Plus, a lot of proteins are similar to whole foods; in that they are very filling and provide a more natural way of fulfilling your daily calorie requirements without overeating.

Cut Out Refined Carbs

A specific form of processed food, refined carbs are carbohydrates that have had almost all of the beneficial nutrients and fibre removed. The process of refining the carbs makes the foods affected more easily digested, but unfulfilling, which can lead to overeating. Some of the main culprits include white flour, bread and rice, pastries, breakfast cereals and pasta, which are all very common foods in the average western diet. Simply swapping these foods out for the more natural, unprocessed versions is a great step to losing weight and having a healthier general diet.

Stay Hydrated

Making sure to drink more water is a simple but effective change you can make to your lifestyle in order to lose weight. For one, replacing other drinks you might be having at mealtimes, such as fizzy drinks, fruit juices or alcoholic beverages, is a simple way to make sure you are getting enough water every day while also reducing the amount of calories you are taking in every day.

Try Calorie Counting

Being aware of what you’re eating is an easy way to see why you might not be losing weight, and what kinds of changes you can make to your diet to achieve your weight loss goals more effectively. A good way to dip your toes into calorie counting is to use an app; there are many apps out there that are really easy to use, and contain huge indexes of different foods, allowing you to find what you’re eating and log it without any effort.

Eat more Fruit & Veg

Fruits and vegetables are classically healthy foods that are very friendly towards diet, weight loss and greater health. Both are very high in water, nutrients, healthy sugars and fibre, whilst also being low in calories and having a low energy density. This means that you can eat lots more without consuming too many calories; unlike something like refined carbohydrates.

Diet Hacks

As well as of these tips, you can also look to add some of these other diet hacks into your routine, that can help you to eat less and lose weight. For example, you can use smaller plates at mealtimes to better control portion sizes, brush your teeth after every meal to avoid snacking and engage in mindful eating (which involves eating without distraction, so that you’re fully aware of what you’re actually eating).

That concludes this article, on eight easy changes anyone can make to their diet and lifestyle, in order to lose weight faster and more naturally. I drank too much alcohol and had unhealthy eating habits. Pastry is such a bad thing, it's all those pies, pasties and sausage rolls!

How does this work?

The tailored approach LiveWell Dorset uses to come up with solutions to the things that are stopping us achieving our goals, is based upon work done by University College London developing the COM-B model of behaviour change. In this model, all behaviour is influenced by understanding a person’s capability to change, their opportunity to change and their motivation to change. By understanding which of these is the biggest barrier to change, we can tailor support accordingly. This model of behaviour change is at the centre of the support we offer, online and in person.
