The self-service vape offer

Sign up online (or call us) for a free vape kit and we will post it to your home.

You can also claim free follow-up liquids. You can access support independently, whenever you need it, with our online coaching videos and a downloadable quit app for your phone.
Swap 2 Stop is nationwide campaign aimed at encouraging smokers to make the switch from smoking to vaping to improve their health. If you’re an adult smoker with a BCP or Dorset Council postcode you can sign up for a free vape kit from LiveWell Dorset. Smokers are addicted to nicotine, not tobacco. It’s the tar and toxic chemicals produced in tobacco smoke that kills, so switching from smoking to vaping is a positive health move. Get your free vape kit now.

How I quit: three different LiveWell stories

Stacey chose: a vape kit

"I feel so much better, and I have saved my body from the damage of all the other rubbish, the dangerous chemicals, that are in cigarettes. I feel back in control. Cigarettes are like coffin nails."

Stacey managed to quit smoking for more than 20 years but then fell back into the habit when life took a stressful turn. Vaping helped him through the transition back to non-smoker. How Stacey quit

Gina chose: NRT and coaching

"Quitting smoking is a tough journey but such an important one. It is never too late and no matter how many times you may have failed in the past, never give up giving up. With LiveWell Dorset, with the right support, you can do this, you really can."

Retired nurse Gina used to tell her patients to quit smoking - and yet she could never give up herself, despite many attempts. Then her GP told her about LiveWell and her life changed for good. How Gina got on

Our coach Wendy chose: a one-day Allen Carr Easyway Seminar

"I went into the seminar with an open mind. The trainer made you feel really comfortable and even encouraged you to smoke which was a bit strange at first. But the seminar really challenged and changed my thought patterns around smoking. By the end I knew I didn't need nicotine in my life anymore."

LiveWell coach Wendy knows what it is like to beat a craving and uses her own experiences as a smoker to help others. She decided to try quitting in a day with Allen Carr Easyway and just a few hours later she was a non-smoker. How Wendy quit in a single day

How you can beat the cravings

Did you know that you are five times more likely to stop smoking for good if you have stopped for 28 days? Stopping smoking isn’t easy. But using physical activity as a tool can really help you stay smokefree and keep your cravings at bay.

Setting regular time aside for movement in your day is a great way to help, as withdrawal symptoms and cravings decrease during exercise, and up to 50 minutes after exercising. Physical activity can also help limit any weight gain that you may experience when you quit smoking. Here are some great tips to help stamp out those cravings:

  • Try for 30 minutes of physical activity most days of the week. If you don't have 30 minutes, try 10 minutes of activity three times a day - it has the same benefits!

  • Do activities you enjoy. Whether it's a light movement like walking, or moderate to vigorous activities like biking, swimming, dancing, or yoga.

  • Make the most of doing housework and gardening, they are both physical activities which can benefit your health and wellbeing; playing music while you clean out your closets may help you step up the pace.
  • Plan activities with family or friens that include physical activity, not only is it good for your wellbeing, but theirs too!

  • Change your exercise routine or try a new activity from time to time so you are always staying motivated to keep active.

  • Replace your cigarette breaks with some gentle stretches whilst the kettle boils or walk up and down the stairs a few times until the cravings go.
  • When you're at work and on a break, go for a walk with a colleague who doesn’t smoke, or walk to the kitchen and make a drink instead. Active Dorset has more ideas and support with Getting Active at Work.

How does this work?

The tailored approach LiveWell Dorset uses to come up with solutions to the things that are stopping us achieving our goals, is based upon work done by University College London developing the COM-B model of behaviour change. In this model, all behaviour is influenced by understanding a person’s capability to change, their opportunity to change and their motivation to change. By understanding which of these is the biggest barrier to change, we can tailor support accordingly. This model of behaviour change is at the centre of the support we offer, online and in person.
